A demo done in may 2007 on a wellknown mugo pine yamadori from southern germany, traded with a big fraxinus yamadori I also got from another trade… I guess it all started with a shimpaku actually. As the tree became a mugo, the upper part was bent under the main trunk, while the bottom part was bent upwards. The starting length of the tree is around 220 centimeters. Without majour cuts the tree got shortened to 115 centimeters. Very old branches and old jins got bent quite strongly. The tree is recovering well and next spring will be ready for repotting and further bendings, to reduce it´s lenght of another bit, increase the movement of the trunk and get a more compact canopy, eventually closer to the nebari.
the pinus mugo before.. total lenght around 2 meters 20
