Sorry to keep having to apologise for not Blogging regularly on this Site. How I wish I had 30hrs in a day instead of the 24 that the Almighty has given us!
I seem to find the time to swim (which I do four times a week) and dance (which I do five times a week) – but blogging is just not my thing. If I could find a blogging secretary to work for me – that would be so good.
I was in India at the end of January and early February. I visited Bhopal, Hyderabad and Delhi just demonstrating bonsai all the time. I hardly had any free time to myself.

If you are not familiar with the Indian bonsai scene, then you must be wondering why all these lovely ladies.
The fact is that in India, 95% of all the bonsai enthusiasts are women. Men are definitely in the minority.

This is Mr Brindal, one of the very good growers in Bhopal. He grows large trees.

This is Mrs. Jyoti Pandya, the President of one of the two societies in Bhopal. Here is she with her magnificent Ficus which she collected many years ago from her own hedge.
I think this is a lovely tree with beautiful nebari.

Jyoti Pandya in her bonsai yard. These trees were developed mainly from cuttings and seedlings. Truly a lifetime’s work.

This is a demo I did in Delhi. I worked on twenty to thirty trees in four hours. The material is not brilliant but we have to make do.

This is the best that can be made with this type of Juniper. I put three very tall Junipers together to make a clump style .

This was the thickest Juniper procumbens that was available. Making a spiral shari and jin.

These are just a few of the bonsai of Mrs. Prabha Shri Dhar – one of the leading lights on bonsai in India. She specialises in Bougainvilleas, Crassula and Ficus.
Watch this space – there is more to follow. Bye for now.

Dear Mr. Chan,
Thanks for posting great pics & your India adventure update.
Few of our Ahmedabad Bonsai Club members had the opportunity to meet you at Hyderabad. I could not attend for i thought it was too early for me. I have recently completed my basic course & am ready to take on the advance level. I represent AHmedabad Bonsai Club, which has 50 odd members. Next time you are in India, if possible we will like to invite you. Pl. visit my website http://rameshsinhabonsai.blogspot.com if possible, though my collection reflects my immaturity, i am sure it will mature withage.
