Re-Pots
January 24th, 2009 by Peter Evans
I re-potted some favorites today.
The Blackthorn was just cleaned out of weeds and only needed a gentle root prune.
The Hawthorn also only needed a slight root prune but was re-positioned as suggested by Hans Van Meer last year.
Both of these are planted in Gordon Duffett pots.

Hi Peter,
Really nice trees, the pots too are just right for the species.
For me these trees are wonderfully evocative of the Blackthorns and Hawthorns we see here on the wild Penwith moores of west Cornwall.
The native Hawthorns and Blackthorns have so much to commend them for bonsai we think, small leaves, flowers in the spring and berries during autumn.
We have a number of collected Blackthorns and Hawthorns and will start repotting soon, Nina has just bought a new pot for her small semi cascade Hawthorn.
Nobu Kajiwara who visited us last summer sugested a slightly higher pot might show this tree to better advantage, so we are looking forward to seeing it in its new pot.
Regards
John C
