    Hi Peter,
I’ve just moved down to south devon from the midlands. I’ve been growing bonsai for 20 years with some success on an informal basis I havent followed the ‘rules’as such but have some nice trees – mostly english natives. I’ve been concentrating less on them for the last couple of years but I’m thinking of getting back into it and learning some more. If you like I can send you some photos of my trees as they are now and maybe establish a dialogue. regards, Kevin

Kevin, sorry it has taken so long to respond but i have had some computer glitches.
It would be great to see some of your trees.
    You could e-mail them to ;
    the.bonsaistudio@virgin.net
I could also let you know about the local clubs.

    Regards, Peter.

    Dear Peter:

I just visited your site, your gallery, and have found some beautiful trees. The large hawthorn is very impresive. But perhaps the one tree that touched my heart was your chinese elm. I wonder if you wired every single branch and how you developed it. This is because I´m working at the moment on a 18 years old, more or less, chinese elm, that I bought and ended up choping because it had a terrible design. So right now I´m developing new trunk and branches and need to make decisions. I love the naturalness that emanates from this tree. One wishes one could just lean on the trunk and rest there looking up at the sky through the branches. By the way, I´m from El Salvador.

    Best regards,

    Alfredo,
    Nice to hear from you.
I travelled through El Savador in 1995 on the London to Mexio rally. We stayed in San Salvador for one night before moving on to Mexico.
    Anyway, back to the tree.
I have mostly grow this one through the “clip and grow ” method.I did a major re-style, also in 95, and have just slowly grown the tree on since.
I will post some photo’s on my blog soon.

    Regards, Peter.

    Dear Peter:

I just read your answer to my mail. I appreciate it a lot. It´s funny to hear that you were here back in 1995. Back then I was still living in Germany. Are you from England? I might have some further questions in the near future regarding this elm I´m working on. Thanks again.
    Best regards,
    Alfredo
