If I were a composer I would honor you with my love song

If I were just a poet I would write you the lyric of my soul

But I am just a Bonsai artist-

-And can only shape you with my life!

My first  teaching trip  outside Indonesia was in the 6th. Asia-Pacific Bonsai Suiseki Convention & Exhibition (ASPAC 2001)  in  Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia; then in the 7th. ASPAC 2003  in Manila, Philippines.

Then traveling quite intensively abroad as well as within Indonesia to give lectures, demos, crititique, workshops and judging. (Visit : http://whoisbonsai.com/robert-steven-indonesia)

It seems you have already visited India twice, and maybe during your next visit, perhaps you may touch down Bangladesh on your way back home.

It would be such an honour to receive you in Bangladesh.

I had been to India several times. Hope I can visit your country sometimes…
Tell me about the bonsai activity in Bangladesh and I’d love to see some pictures.

Bonsai activity in BD is not very old. There was perhaps one or two persons who had been individually pursuing this art form since eighties.
In 1999 an expatriate Bangladeshi (who was the President of Toronto Bonsai Society) gathered some enthusiasts in BD and helped form the Bangladesh Bonsai Society. Since then the Society had been imparting training to beginners, and holding annual exhibition. The present membership is around 100.

We’ve had the opportunity to have amongst us Mr. Susumu Nakamura (sponsored by the Japanese embassy) in 2003 and 2005, who had given very interesting demos on different species, and I had received many valuable inputs on bonsai aesthetics from him during his stay in BD, as I was the coordinator.

The popular trees for bonsai in BD are Ficus rumphii, F. long island, F. benjamina, Murraya paniculata/exotica, Carmona micropyhlla, etc., and I will send you some pix separately to your email ID.

    G’Day Robert,

I am very impressed with your bonsai! I live in tropical Queensland so they speak to me in a way a lot of temperate bonsai do not. I have just discovered that Pemphis acidula also grows naturally here! I see that you are comming to Queensland in November 2007. Where and when will you be visiting? I would love to see you.

If you are in the north, you are more than welcome to visit us and see our humble bonsai.

    all the best

    Ashley

    Hi Siqong,
We are the Kelantan and Terengganu Bonsai Societies (Sifus and new members) are here waiting for a warm visit from a world great siqong..so excited rather than your demo at Kuala Lumpur in May 2008. Really hope to have a great lesson and your great bonsai materials i.e. magazines, CD etc if any on 21-23 August 2008 at Kota Bharu, an Islamic city which is similar to your Malang neighbourhood in term of bonsai artists and collectors (high, middle and low class communities are sharing same hobby shoulders to shoulder and living nearby each other).
