Here is an update on a comparatively small pine I have. It has very good trunk movement and really rugged bark. The rugged bark doesn’t show on the new photos because the trunk is wet so I’m attaching an old photo where the trunk is dry as well.

I will cut back unneccesary branches next spring and leave it another year before I start to style it.

  1. Hi Rune.
Looks like a 2 needle pine ?? What species? It looks very similar to the shore pine (P. contorta, contorta) that we find over here. Had some great collecting days this last fall. Hopefully I’ll be able to keep them alive as they are old, battered and have some wonderful shapes and potential.
    Cheers Graham

  2. Excellent potential Rune! Have fun with this one… Jason

  3. Hi Jason! I will : -)

  4. Hi Graham.
It’s a Pinus sylvestris. All my pines are sylvestris. It is the only pine species that grows in the wild in Norway. I hope your pines will survive!

    Cheers
